best vanilla way to track down a horse/donkey/mule/camel/zombie and skeleton horse with the tag test

i was told you cant use a compass or lodestone compass for this and that
and i've thought about the locator bar but its not per player and only for new versions
someone told me i could use a particle effect that points towards a horse nearby but i'm not sure if that looks vanilla and if it works well
and i dont want a particle effect to always point to your horse only when you do something like hold an item, ive thought about using a compass to hold and a lodestone to upgrade the saddle but if the compass doesn't point towards the horse it might confuse people
