making a structure datapack

im having trouble rn getting the datapack validated (first time).
i have some structure pools in folders, which means i have some nesting
in a working datapack i saw the starting structure isnt in a folder
is that a necessity?
also, how do the template pools in the jigsaw blocks have to align with the file path?
