Is making data packs on a snapshot a good idea?

It's been a while since I last made a datapack. Before, I had only done it on stable release versions. However, I heard there are a lot of new features in the current snapshots, and I would like to try them out. But is it a good, future-proof idea to make a datapack based on snapshots?
