Multi Level Structures

Im working on a datapack to create structures within the world. I was wondering if there was any good way or any way in general that I could connect multiple layers in the structure. I want to have different levels on the structure with multiple staircases or paths that lead to these levels. Currently I can get the paths to generate and stairs to generate different levels but none connect to each other. I wanted to know if there was a good way to do this.
