give score to mobs without an specific score

I have a data pack it uses a score to check for mobs cooldown I use name tag and specific name to convert a cat into that mob but the newly turned mob doesn't have a score so it never does what it is supposed to do and when I try to /scoreboard players get on it, it says none is set what is the solution?
