1.16.5 custom model data?

i'm using recipe generator for an help. I saw in recent minecraft version for custom recipe u can tell the game to get a custom model data of an item, in this case of an ender eye. But if u switch to 1.65, u can' t use this syntax to make it. There is a way to do it?
