randomly execute a command from a list

hello! i'm wondering if there's a simple way to do this... i'm trying to set up a function to select a /summon command randomly from a stored list, so that every time i run the function it summons a different entity from the list. unfortunately i don't have any code to provide, it's just a concept at this point. thanks in advance!
