Selector question

I'm trying to make a selector that select selects entities on the same Y level, so I think the best option is to us dy, but I cannot figure out how to make it work? for exemple /tp @s @n[type=item_display,dy=10] do not fidn any entity, even if I'm precisely where the entity is, so can someone help me to make it work?
