How to remove Minecraft Vanilla Ores

So I've been able to determine how to remove modded ores, but I'm not sure how to do the same thing with minecraft ores. Please don't say "It's done the same way." I'd appreciate a file structure and an example for removing one type of ore. My current guess is simply that you build into: data/minecraft/worldgen/biomemodifiers/iron_ore.json or something similar.
