confusion around display entities, specifically item displays

so i was reading the wiki cause i wanted to do something with item displays, and the text is a bit cryptic around how interpolations between different transformations work.
if i read everything correctly, it interpolates after the transformation attribute is changed, right? with the duration of the interpolation_duration attribute
thats correct, right?
