What are the chances of deprecation?

What are the chances that a 1.21 data pack is going to be deprecated soon?
And if I have to update, would it require a lot of maintenance?
I know mods too are notoriously slow to update, esp. content ones. 
It's just... everything feels like a hack right now, and things could change quickly soon. Right click detection is faking eating, custom items aren't really custom, everything is an advancement, etc.
