Items with custom IDs?

Hi there hello! Begginer here. Have never made a datapack. I'm playing with a mod that is a little bit broken due to one of the crafting recipes having an item id that does not exist in the mod.
I was hoping to be able to make a custom item with the id required for that recipe to function.
Would this be possible with a datapack?
