Making custom crafting recipes for vanilla items (1.20.6)

Recently I've been playing a lot of vanilla skyblock and I want to make a datapack to let me craft some normally unobtainable items like deepslate.
I looked up some tutorials earlier but when I tried the crafting recipes it didn't work. Does anyone have good resources for this or maybe a template datapack? Thanks
