custom name syntax help for advancements

I've been trying to get an advancement to run on item consumption for almost the entire day. I've gotten it to work on names without any special formating but can't seem to get it to work with formatting. I've been looking at github help threads and still can't get the answer I need and am now seeking help from discord.
