Trying to modify Stratospherical expansion 1.18.2 datapack

The mod works packaged as a mod but when I use it as a datapack it won't let me add it in my world because of an issue with the minecraft:slide density modifier. I spoke with the publisher and he said that in versions past 1.18.2 that modifier was removed, but he didn't know why it wouldn't work in the version where it presumably still exists. Is there perhaps an alternative that does the same thing as minecraft:slide?
