Use a part of a list in commands

I'm trying to understand the /data command so I do some tests/exercises, I tried to copy slot from a player's inventory to a chest, and it paste the 27 first inventory slot (hotbar, plus two other lines), so I tried to paste only the non hotbar inventory, and I realized I don't know how to use a part of a list as a source (Im not sure if it's the right word) (from slot 9 to slot 35), so I'm wondering, is it possible, and how?
This is probably unclear, sorry if it is, I can try to rephrase if it is.
