Armor Equip Sound Keeps Playing

Good afternoon,
Earlier today I was able to get a datapack working that changes the armor value of certain pieces of minecraft armor. I've noticed an unsightly side-effect however, that whenever I equip more than one piece of the armor, the equip sound effect stacks and replays whenever I open a chest or my inventory.
Any help would be appreciated on what is causing this to act up. If needed, I can post my datapack. Thank you
