replace char in string

I SWEAR TO GOD I AM LOOSING MY MIND uhm does anyone know how i would go about replacing a char in a string (stored in a storage) with another char (also stored in a storage) i know this is possible somehow but i just can't wrap my head around it so help would be much appreciated :)
