Adding tree roots to the trees

I want to make naturally generated and sapling generated trees generated by root stump. Not a complicated one, I just want to change ground log into another custom block. (Probably I make a tough stone block so players will need better tools to break the log). Is there a way to do that? I will give an example for what I want. I want to change the log type I drawed in.
