Tags in Stonecutting recipes

I'm currently working on the stonecutting recipes for my mod. My mod has a truckload of blocks, so I figured it would be easier to use a tag as the input. However, vanilla inputs can't result in any output, and modded inputs can only result in vanilla outputs. Any idea what could be happening here? Is there an easier way, or do I have to make each recipe manually?
