Can i create my own types of smth in datapacks?

I mean like i have configured_feature. In foliage_placer i have type(variants u can see on screenshot). 
Can i create smth like API or library for datapack, which will be contain new custom type like custom_foliage_placer? 
Maybe i can create this with tags?
