Crafting with custom models

I've got a resource pack for four custom models of phantom membranes to make tiers of coins, but I really want to be able to craft four of tier one into 1 of tier two etc.  I know you can't make recipes (which sucks) with custom models, but is there a server side mod that enables this for datapacks?
